Ellicott City Fitness and Karate periodically hosts special karate and martial arts-related events. This past March (2008) we hosted Sensei James Thompson, who visited us from his Michigan school. Over three days, over forty people participated in this event, practicing several aspects of our hard within soft style. See our photo gallery for pictures of this event!
We also announce upcoming events hosted by other Friends of Dojo in this section. These are events we believe will benefit our own students in the course of their study of Uechi-Ryu. So check back regularly for postings!
As a student, your child will be exposed to health and
fitness in a fun camp atmosphere. Specifically, an actionpacked
camp day will center around a structured set of
physical activities designed to introduce kids to various
forms of fitness. Activities will include karate, swimming,
kickball, aerobics, jump rope, obstacle courses and more.
The day will be balanced with short, fun, age-specific
learning sessions where your child will learn how exercise
and healthy eating choices affect the body. Each child
gets a FREE Summer Camp T-Shirt to wear their interest
in health and fitness with pride.

Starting in January 2009, we will hold Parents’ Night Out (PNO) on third Friday of the month. PNO is exactly what it sounds like! Take the time to unwind a little! Leave the kids with us and enjoy a relaxed dinner out on the town!
PNO is a fun evening for the kids as well! We spend the evening on such activities as running obstacle courses, skills drills (how many punches can you throw in a minute?!), and games. Pizza, popcorn and juice are served for dinner, while we end the evening with a movie on the flat screen TV. Go to our gallery to see some photos from past PNOs! Call or e-mail for details or booking!
We also host karate-themed birthday parties! The Birthday Celebrant is the Co-Sensei of the day, and is feted with a variety of fun activities. The kids enjoy such events as:
Towards the end of the celebration, pizza, snacks and cake are served, along with the traditional “Happy Birthday†song. See our Photo Gallery for past events.
